As we look ahead to the new year, we are delighted to announce some exciting changes to the 100,000 Strong Foundation’s Board of Directors.
First of all, we are happy to welcome our new chairman, George Lee. George is the chairman and CEO of MetroBank and is returning to the 100,000 Strong Board of Directors for another term of service. We are also honored to welcome back Florence Fang, founder of the Florence Fang Family Foundation and a founding supporter of 100,000 Strong. George and Florence have made significant contributions to 100,000 Strong since its inception, and we are thrilled that they have agreed to rejoin us.
We are also adding three new members to the Board of Directors: Maria Cardona, Robert “Bob” Davis, and Elizabeth Haenle.
Maria is a principal at the Dewey Square Group, where she leads the Multicultural and Public Affairs practices. She has more than two decades of experience in public service, previously serving as director of communications for the INS and as press secretary at the Department of Commerce. Maria also served as a senior advisor to the Hillary Rodham Clinton for President Campaign in 2008.
Bob is the executive director of Chinese Language and Culture Initiatives at The College Board in Chicago. He has been working in language education, both in the United States and China, for the past 15 years. Bob previously served as both the director of the Confucius Institute and the manager for World Languages & International Studies in Chicago Public Schools.
Elizabeth is the founder and president of Elizabeth Haenle Weddings, Lifestyle & Events, a boutique consulting company focused on custom-designed events. She is based in Beijing. Previously, Elizabeth served eight years at the White House as social secretary and residence manager to the Vice President of the United States.
I have every confidence that these new Board members will bring important perspectives and unique skill sets to the 100,000 Strong Foundation, and I look forward to the contributions they will make to the Board in pursuit of our important mission.
The 100,000 Strong Foundation is overseen by an 11-member Board of Directors that is committed to good governance and organizational excellence. Each member works to ensure that the Foundation continues to maintain the highest standards of transparency and integrity. Their support and expertise are invaluable to our efforts.
